Oronde Gadsden
Oronde Gadsden Inactive again Week 2
Mon, Sep 15, 2025, 7:52 PM
Gadsden (coach's decision) is a healthy scratch for Monday night's AFC West battle against Las Vegas.
Analysis: Gadsden was also a healthy scratch Week 1 against the Chiefs, so he doesn't appear to be in the Chargers' offensive plans barring an injury ahead of him in the tight-end pecking order. The team will again roll with two tight ends -- Will Dissly and Tyler Conklin -- for Monday night's matchup.
Will Dissly
Will Dissly Outproduced by Conklin
Sat, Sep 6, 2025, 4:53 PM
Dissly secured his only target for 18 yards during Los Angeles' 27-21 win over the Chiefs on Friday.
Analysis: Dissly played more offensive snaps (37) than Conklin (28), but the former was outproduced in the receiving game. Dissly's lone target, which he turned into an 18-yard reception, came in the fourth quarter, while Conklin managed 50 yards on two targets, both of which he secured. Dissly and Conklin will again split reps at tight end in Week 2 on the road against Las Vegas on Monday night, but the Chargers' passing attack appears intent on funneling through starting wideouts Ladd McConkey, Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston.
Tyler Conklin
Tyler Conklin Productive on two targets
Sat, Sep 6, 2025, 4:47 PM
Conklin secured both of his targets for 50 yards during the Chargers' 27-21 win over the Chiefs on Friday night. He also rushed once for two yards.
Analysis: Conklin made the most of his limited opportunities in the receiving game Friday, while top wideouts Ladd McConkey, Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston combined for a total of 26 of 34 possible targets. Conklin also played just 43 percent of offensive snaps, while fellow tight end Will Dissly (targeted once for an 18-yard gain) played 57 percent of snaps. Even in what preliminarily looks like a more pass-friendly offense led by Justin Herbert, Conklin and Dissly likely won't be major factors in the receiving game given Los Angeles' depth at wide receiver. They project to again split reps at tight end versus the Raiders on Monday night in Week 2.
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith Can't bring in only target
Sat, Sep 6, 2025, 4:06 PM
Lambert-Smith failed to secure his only target during the Chargers' 27-21 win over the Chiefs on Friday night.
Analysis: Lambert-Smith played 14 offensive snaps while rookie second-rounder Tre' Harris played just five snaps. On his only target, though, Harris managed an 11-yard completion, while Lambert-Smith finished catchless. Both rookies will again compete for reps behind starting wide receivers Ladd McConkey, Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston as the Chargers prepare for a Monday night showdown on the road at Las Vegas in Week 2.
Tre' Harris
Tre' Harris Secures only target
Sat, Sep 6, 2025, 11:16 AM
Harris brought in his only target for 11 yards during Friday's 27-21 victory over Kansas City.
Analysis: Harris, a 2025 second-round pick, played just five offensive snaps, while sixth-rounder KeAndre Lambert-Smith played 14. Quarterback Justin Herbert targeted each rookie just once, however, and Lambert-Smith finished Week 1 without a catch. Ladd McConkey, Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston dominated opportunities in the passing game, combining for 26 targets, and the three appear solidified as a starting trio atop the Chargers' wide receiver depth chart. Harris thus looks destined to reprise a depth role in Week 2 against the Raiders on Monday night, and any path for him to see significantly increased opportunities in the near future could depend on one of McConkey, Allen or Johnston missing time.
Najee Harris
Najee Harris Used sparingly Week 1
Sat, Sep 6, 2025, 11:07 AM
Harris rushed once for five yards and secured his only target for another five yards during Friday's 27-21 victory over Kansas City.
Analysis: Head coach Jim Harbaugh said in advance of Friday's opener that Harris would play but that Omarion Hampton would draw the start, and the rookie ultimately handled a workhorse role. Hampton totaled 17 touches against the Chiefs' firm defensive front, rushing 15 times for 48 yards and securing both of his targets for 13 yards. Harris' backfield role could grow as he puts further distance between himself and the minor eye injury that forced him to sit out all of training camp and the preseason, but Hampton looks solidified as the starter in Los Angeles' backfield and projects to dominate touches again in Week 2 on the road against Las Vegas.
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton Leads backfield with 17 touches
Fri, Sep 5, 2025, 11:25 PM
Hampton rushed 15 times for 48 yards and caught both of his targets for 13 yards in Friday's 27-21 victory over Kansas City.
Analysis: Hampton was deployed as the every-down starter Friday, generating 15 more combined touches than Najee Harris (eye). The team could have been easing Harris back after suffering an eye injury that held the back out for all of training camp and the preseason, but the stark difference in touches points the fantasy value arrow strongly in Hampton's direction to kick off the year. If the North Carolina product continues to dominate the backfield touches moving forward, he could prove to be an even greater draft day steal than managers originally hoped. Hampton's volume combined with a plus matchup against the Raiders next Monday make him a solid play in Week 2.
Quentin Johnston
Quentin Johnston Goes off for two scores Friday
Fri, Sep 5, 2025, 11:09 PM
Johnston finished with five receptions on seven targets for 79 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Friday's 27-21 win over the Chiefs.
Analysis: Johnston looked like a fantasy stud in Brazil after cashing in on two of Justin Herbert's trio of touchdown passes. The third-year wideout has had his shares of ups and downs, but this is the kind of performance the Chargers had in mind when they selected Johnston in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. It is worth noting that both Keenan Allen (7-68-1) and Ladd McConkey (6-74-0) finished with more targets and receptions in Friday's win. That said, if the Chargers' offense continues to air out it out like we saw against the Chiefs, then all three starting receivers theoretically could eat this season. Make sure Johnston is rostered ahead of next Monday's matchup against the Raiders.
Justin Herbert
Justin Herbert Carves up AFC Champ's defense
Fri, Sep 5, 2025, 10:51 PM
Herbert completed 25 of 34 pass attempts for 318 yards and three touchdowns while taking seven carries for 32 yards in Friday's 27-21 victory over Kansas City.
Analysis: Herbert and the Chargers' aerial attack put on a show in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Friday, generating five lengthy scoring drives in a decisive victory over last year's AFC Champions. Head coach Jim Harbaugh let his star quarterback air it out right out of the gates, resulting in Herbert's first 300-yard, three-touchdown performance since Harbaugh took over at the start of last season. If this is truly a shift in offensive philosophy from the three yards and a cloud of dust scheme we saw in 2024, then Herbert's fantasy ceiling could rise somewhere closer to the elite production we witnessed from 2020-2022. Next Monday's tilt against the Raiders should be telling on whether Herbert can keep up this type volume.
Ladd McConkey
Ladd McConkey Strong PPR performance Friday
Fri, Sep 5, 2025, 10:33 PM
McConkey corralled six of nine targets for 74 yards in Friday's 27-21 win over the Chiefs.
Analysis: McConkey picked up where he left off following an impressive rookie campaign with a healthy dose of involvement in a Week 1 bout in Brazil. Returning WR Keenan Allen led his former club in both targets (10) and receptions (seven), providing a much-needed threat opposite McConkey for the Chargers' passing attack. While McConkey didn't cash in on any of Justin Herbert's three touchdown passes Friday, the shifty receiver still produced strong PPR numbers for a team that appeared to be shifting toward a more pass-friendly offense in 2025. The Chargers will receive a few extra days of rest before taking on the Raiders on Sept. 15.
Oronde Gadsden
Oronde Gadsden Healthy scratch vs. Chiefs
Fri, Sep 5, 2025, 6:12 PM
Gadsden (coach's decision) is listed as inactive for Friday's game versus Kansas City, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
Analysis: The Chargers apparently feel good rolling into Week 1 with just Will Dissly and Tyler Conklin available at tight end, so Gadsden will have to wait at least another week to make his regular-season debut. His absence might mean a few more snaps from the slot for Keenan Allen.
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton Set to start over Harris on Friday
Thu, Sep 4, 2025, 4:21 PM
Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh told Rich Eisen in a pre-broadcast meeting that Hampton is in line to draw the start over fellow running back Najee Harris in Friday's game against the Chiefs in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Alex Insdorf of BoltBeat.com reports.
Analysis: Even though the Chargers invested a first-round pick in him in April's draft, Hampton was initially expected to open the season in the No. 2 role behind Harris, who signed with Los Angeles in March following four consecutive 1,000-yard rushing campaigns in Pittsburgh to begin his career. However, after Harris suffered a superficial eye injury in a Fourth of July fireworks accident that kept him from practicing throughout training camp and the preseason, Hampton was able to pick up extended reps with the first-team offense and is now poised to take the field for the Chargers' first snap of 2025. Despite his designation as the Week 1 starter, however, Hampton won't necessarily be guaranteed a three-down workload, as Harris gained clearance for the season opener following three consecutive full practices this week. Per Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site, Harbaugh wasn't willing to go into specifics Wednesday regarding how the snaps and touches might be distributed between Hampton and Harris, though Hampton likely projects as the more reliable option of the two in fantasy lineups since he's been able to get more reps under his belt throughout the summer. A clearer idea regarding the weekly workload breakdown between the two backs may not become apparent until after a few games, when Harris should be fully reconditioned and free of limitations stemming from the eye injury.
Najee Harris
Najee Harris Cleared for Friday, but won't start
Thu, Sep 4, 2025, 3:53 PM
Harris (eye) doesn't have an injury designation for Friday's game against the Chiefs in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
Analysis: Head coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday that Harris was on track to play in the season opener, and after the running back logged three consecutive full practices this week, Harbaugh's prediction has now come to pass. Per Smith, Harbaugh wasn't willing to go into specifics regarding how extensively Harris might be used Friday, though he told Rich Eisen of ESPN in a pre-broadcast meeting that rookie first-round pick Omarion Hampton would draw the start over Harris, according to Alex Insdorf of BoltBeat.com. Harris is still expected to have a role in the Chargers' game plan, but the uncertainty of his snap and touch counts after he missed all of training camp and the preseason while recovering from a superficial eye injury make it difficult to depend on him as an option in Week 1 fantasy lineups.
Najee Harris
Najee Harris Ready to play
Wed, Sep 3, 2025, 4:08 PM
Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday that he expects Harris (eye) will play this Friday against the Chiefs.
Analysis: Harris said Monday that he planned to play, with his full practice participation Tuesday then confirming he was on track. Harbaugh echoed that Wednesday, although he declined to answer reporters questions about the extent of Harris' Week 1 role. "Those are really hard to predict," Harbaugh said. "Play counts and things of that nature. Get in there, play football and have at it. That's kind of the mindset. Not kind of, that is the mindset."
Tre' Harris
Tre' Harris In clear for Week 1
Tue, Sep 2, 2025, 4:44 PM
Harris (undisclosed) isn't listed on the Chargers' initial Week 1 injury report that was released Tuesday.
Analysis: Harris exited a practice last Wednesday due to an unspecified issue, but his absence from the Week 1 injury report implies that he took every rep during Tuesday's session. The rookie second-round receiver out of Ole Miss will be available for Friday's season opener versus the Chiefs in Sao Paulo, Brazil, but it's unclear if he'll be able to immediately earn meaningful target volume on the perimeter after the Chargers brought aboard veteran slot man Keenan Allen in August to complement No. 1 wideout Ladd McConkey and third-year man Quentin Johnston.
Quentin Johnston
Quentin Johnston Off injury report
Tue, Sep 2, 2025, 4:34 PM
Johnston (concussion) isn't listed on the Chargers' initial Week 1 injury report that was released Tuesday.
Analysis: Chargers head coach John Harbaugh had already confirmed Monday that Johnston cleared the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, and the third-year wideout's absence from the injury report suggests that he practiced fully Tuesday and will be available for Friday's season opener versus the Chiefs in Sao Paulo, Brazil. While Johnston projects to begin the 2025 campaign as a starter, the Chargers' offseason additions of veteran Keenan Allen and rookie second-round pick Tre Harris could cut into Johnston's target share and playing time.
Najee Harris
Najee Harris Turns in full practice
Tue, Sep 2, 2025, 4:28 PM
Harris (eye) was listed as a full practice participant Tuesday.
Analysis: After suffering what was labeled as a superficial eye injury in a fireworks accident on the Fourth of July, Harris took part in minimal drills and didn't play in any games during the preseason, but he's ramped up his on-field work over the past several days. The veteran running back was recently cleared to take full contact, and after logging every rep during the Chargers' first official practice session of the regular season, he's now on track to suit up in Friday's opener against the Chiefs in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Despite being in the clear to play Week 1, Harris could be in line for a limited role, given the extensive time he missed this summer in addition to the presence of first-round pick Omarion Hampton in the backfield. The weekly breakdown of snaps and touches between Hampton and Harris may not become clear until after a few games, when Harris will be further removed from the eye injury and better conditioned.
Najee Harris
Najee Harris Expects to play Friday
Mon, Sep 1, 2025, 5:07 PM
Harris (eye) expects to play in Friday's regular-season opener against the Chiefs, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: On that topic, Harris noted Monday, "I'm ramping up to it." While the running back didn't go into any details about his fireworks mishap on the Fourth of July, he said that his vision has not been affected, while describing his eye injury as "superficial." The Chargers' upcoming first official practice report will add further context to Harris' Week 1 status, but it looks like he's trending toward seeing action versus Kansas City, though in that scenario it's unclear what sort of volume he might see in tandem with rookie first-rounder Omarion Hampton.
Quentin Johnston
Quentin Johnston Reportedly clears concussion protocol
Mon, Sep 1, 2025, 2:51 PM
Johnston has been fully cleared from concussion protocol, according to Chris Roling of SI.com.
Analysis: Johnston sustained a concussion during a preseason loss to the Rams on Aug. 16, but the wideout appears poised to be available for Friday's regular-season opener against the Chiefs. Look for added context on that front to arrive once the Chargers' first official practice/injury report is released ahead of the contest.
Najee Harris
Najee Harris Cleared for contact
Mon, Sep 1, 2025, 2:20 PM
Harris (eye) has been cleared for contact, NFL.com reports.
Analysis: Per the report, there is a possibility that Harris could play Friday against the Chiefs, according to coach Jim Harbaugh. The running back sustained an eye injury during a fireworks mishap on the Fourth of July, but it appears as though he is approaching a return to action. Added context with regard to Harris' Week 1 status will arrive no later than the posting of the Chargers' first official practice/injury report ahead of Friday's contest. Once available, Harris will pair with 2025 first-rounder Omarion Hampton to pace a Chargers backfield that also includes Hassan Haskins.
